Our Mission
At John R. Wooden Award Foundation, our mission is to empower young people with tools, including the Pyramid of Success and wallet cards, and essential life skills through our Character-Based Leadership Education Program. We focus on character development, leadership, and overcoming challenges such as anxiety from peer and academic pressure, time management, and college and career uncertainty, faced by underserved youth. Our goal is to foster lifelong resilience and success in every student we serve.
Why We Do What We Do
During his lifetime, Coach Wooden had personally signed, addressed envelopes, applied postage, driven to the post office, and mailed over 75,000 copies of his Pyramid of Success to different people. Watch this video to hear how Coach Wooden told Sue Enquist and Valorie Kondos Field, "I wish that the Pyramid could be given away for free to everybody." We intend to fulfill his wish and teach underserved young people how to use it to lead successful lives.

The Los Angeles Athletic Club, longtime host for the John R. Wooden Award, has generously provided seed money to launch the Character-Based Leadership Education Program. JRWAF seeks corporate sponsors, individual donors, and grants to help us grow the program.
